Sega had the right idea but went about it in the wrong way with the 32X, a mostly 3D hardware addon for the Megadrive which didn't take off very well at all but did result in some amazing conversions from Segas arcade 3D line up. The 32X sold in very low numbers making it rare now.

The Mega CD had various versions released, but the most popular were the joinon version 1 and 2. The much more rare JVC 'Wondermega' system is now a serious collectors item.

The Saturn was Segas rush into the 32bit era - and maybe they made it just a little too complex - most coders could not get their heads around the hardware which resulted in the system not reaching its limits until after the unit had peaked, and the rest was history... a shame as it has some absolutely brilliant games on it.

Ahh the DC - Still going strong even today with a fantasic homebrew scene and even the odd commercial release! Not to mention some of the best ever games released for it. Oh and it can run any CD - Need we say more?

The Megadrive was not the only system to get the multi game treatment in early 2000 - they did 2 new versions, a console and a battery powered joypad with games built in. Check out the game list and review here.
